Python has many testing frameworks including its venerable unittest as well as alternatives.


Nose is an easier-to-use unittest.

Simple example:

from nose.tools import *
import NAME

def setup():
    print "SETUP!"

def teardown():
    print "TEAR DOWN!"

def test_basic():
    print "I RAN!"

Run test

$ nosetests

Test files go in tests/ directory and named SOMETHING_tests.py in order to run. If not, it won’t run.

Generator is a helper for generating test methods for nose while still using unittest. It supports both nose and unnittest2.
